Testing and releases

Lexey's changes wait in a draft until you publish them (see Working with Lexey), so you can try them first. The portal gives you three ways to check your agent and one way to go back.

Preview

Preview is the second tab of the Lexey pane. Chat with your agent there as a customer would, beside whatever you're working on. When Lexey offers to test a change and you agree, it starts the test in Preview for you: it sends the first customer message and suggests the next ones, one at a time, for you to send. Back to Lexey returns to your conversation with Lexey, taking the test conversation with it.

For a full-size view of the chat as customers see it, open Channels → Full-size preview. It talks to your live agent, not a draft.

Preview conversations with your live agent are real conversations marked Test: escalation emails and webhooks are sent, so you can check them too. While Lexey has an open draft, Preview tests the draft instead, and those chats are simulated (see Drafts).

Test Lab

Agent → Test Lab (admins only) runs saved test cases against your agent and grades the answers.

  • Cases — Single test conversations with what a good answer should do. Save one from a real conversation with Save as test, or create one with New case.
  • Suites — Groups of cases you run together.
  • Runs — Each run shows whether it finished and how the answers scored, and can be compared with an earlier run. Rerun failed reruns only the cases that failed.
  • Calibration — Reference sets for checking that the grading agrees with your own judgement.

A run uses credits, so the Test Lab shows an estimate before you start it. The Test Lab can't run against a draft yet.

Change history

Agent → Change history records every change to your agent's setup.

  • Changes lists recent configuration changes and who made them.
  • Releases lists open drafts and the releases of your agent, with the current one marked. Each published draft becomes a release. Admins can Restore an earlier release. It takes effect straight away, and Undo on the message that appears puts back the release you had before.
