Paying per resolution vs a flat monthly price for an AI agent
Per-resolution pricing charges for each conversation the AI resolves, so the bill grows with your volume, while a flat monthly plan costs the same each month up to the usage it includes. Paying per resolution suits low or unpredictable volume; a flat plan suits a steady flow of enquiries and a budget you can plan.

How each pricing model treats the conversations your agent has.
Questions the AI answers
Per-resolution tools charge each time the AI resolves a conversation. On a flat plan, answering more questions uses more of the month's included credits rather than adding a charge.
Hand-overs to your team
Intercom counts a hand-off its Fin agent completes as an outcome, so it's charged too. On Lexey, hand-overs come out of the same included credits.
Long, detailed conversations
A per-resolution price is the same however long the conversation. Lexey's credits aren't: longer conversations use more, which is why Starter covers around 300 conversations a month and Growth around 1,000, rather than an exact number.
How each bill grows
The AI part of the bill at three monthly volumes, with Intercom's Fin at US$0.99 per outcome and every conversation counting as one.
| Conversations | Per outcome | Lexey |
|---|---|---|
| 100 | US$99 | US$19 Starter |
| 300 | US$297 | US$19 Starter |
| 1,000 | US$990 | US$49 Growth |
Per outcome (Intercom Fin): US$0.99 each. Not every conversation counts as an outcome, so a real Fin bill can be lower. Intercom also needs at least one seat, from US$29 a month, or a minimum monthly commitment when Fin works with another helpdesk. Lexey's plans cover around 300 and 1,000 conversations depending on how long they are; extra credits cost US$2 per million.

When paying per resolution is the better deal
If the AI handles only a handful of conversations a month, or your volume swings a lot, paying per resolution can cost less than a plan. It also suits teams who already pay for helpdesk seats and want the AI on the same bill.
What to check before you choose
Ask what counts as a resolution, whether hand-overs count, whether you also need a seat or a minimum commitment, and what happens when you go over a plan's allowance. Check each vendor's own pricing page, because these prices change.
Common questions
- What is per-resolution pricing?
- The AI tool charges for each conversation it resolves. Intercom's Fin charges US$0.99 per outcome, and Zendesk charges US$1.50 committed or US$2.00 pay-as-you-go for each automated resolution beyond a plan's allowance.
- Is Lexey's price completely flat?
- Each plan is a fixed monthly price with credits included: US$19 for Starter and US$49 for Growth. If a busy month uses them up, extra credits cost US$2 per million; you can turn on auto-reload to top up automatically, and set a monthly spend limit to stay in control.
- Do hand-overs cost extra on Lexey?
- No. They use the same included credits as any other conversation. Your team follows up by email; Lexey doesn't hand a live chat over to a person mid-conversation.
- Which is cheaper?
- It depends on your volume. At a few conversations a month, paying per resolution can cost less. Once the AI is handling hundreds of conversations a month, a flat plan usually costs less and is easier to budget for.
